From 12th May to 12th June 2025, we once again proudly celebrated The Oral Health Foundation’s National Smile Month. This year’s theme was “Feed Your Smile”, a reminder that a healthy smile starts with what we eat, as well as how we care for our teeth.
Here at Smile Together, we’re always looking for new ways to engage with our communities, share knowledge, and spread smiles. Throughout the month, we embraced the theme across our teams, events, and social platforms – sharing top tips for looking after your smile, healthy food choices that benefit oral health, and of course, plenty of smiley team selfies from our teams!
Partnering with The Pasty Box
This year, we were thrilled to team up with fellow Cornwall-based Community Interest Company, The Pasty Box, a fantastic organisation making a real impact across local communities.
Founded by proud Cornishmen Fergus Muller, Lewis Groom, and Adam Anderson, The Pasty Box brings cooking education and food access directly into schools and homes. Through their ingredient boxes, hands-on cooking sessions, and confidence-building activities, they’re inspiring children and families to get creative and confident in the kitchen.
Our outreach dental nurses attended some of these sessions to talk to children about the importance of looking after their teeth, from brushing advice to understanding how food choices affect oral health. It was a brilliant opportunity to reinforce the connection between healthy eating and a healthy smile in a fun, interactive way.
Feeding Smiles in the Community – Supporting The Café at Lescudjack Centre
We’re also incredibly proud to support The Trelya Café at the Lescudjack Centre in Penzance just next to our Penzance dental practice. This inspiring community café provides free hot meals to individuals and families in need. With demand higher than ever, the café is a vital resource for those navigating financial hardship.
To help them continue their amazing work, we’ve donated £3,600 to cover meals for the 2024/25 year, and have committed to £300 a month throughout 2025/26. With meals averaging £6 each, that equates to around 1,200 meals funded – a significant difference to local lives.
We love that the café also partners with foodbanks and redistributes excess stock to reduce waste, truly a community-focused, sustainable initiative.
Spreading Smiles at the BDA Dental Show and Beyond
Our team were delighted to exhibit at this year’s BDA Dental Show, an opportunity to connect with dental professionals from across the UK. We had so many fantastic conversations and, of course, captured plenty of smiley selfies with delegates to celebrate National Smile Month in style!
We also recognised International HR Day during the month, highlighting the incredible People Team who help make Smile Together such a great place to work.
Throughout the month, we also shared oral health tips across our social media channels, including advice on smile-friendly snacks, brushing techniques, and how to maintain a healthy mouth between dental visits.
Whether it’s through education, outreach, community partnerships, or team celebrations, we’re committed to helping everyone feed their smile in every sense of the word.
