Our Purchasing Specialist helps us partner with those in our supply chain and, where possible, source and procure more sustainably. Our successes to date include:
- Locking into a 3-year Zero Carbon Electricity deal for our Harleigh Road Dental Centre
- Adopting a green IT policy with our website powered by Krystal internet service provider, using 100% renewable energy
- Procuring:
- Biodegradable stickers for all of the children we see
- Lanyards made from recycled plastic
- Recycled paper, not bleached, for use in our in-house printers
- Locally to reduce air/other miles travelled
- Encouraging colleagues to take advantage of and support community initiatives where they live and work – for example, this lovely touch in the flowerbeds opposite our clinic at Truro Health Park:
Our ambitions for the future include:
- More sustainable eco-switches in the clinical environment, considering the effectiveness of clinical suppliers ‘green ranges’
- Working with Cornish company Tevi we calculated our baseline carbon footprint calculation and have now started work on a carbon reduction plan, not only for us as a business, but working with our supply chain and local community
