As a values-based, mission-led organisation, impact is at the heart of everything we do and in July 2022 Smile Together achieved B Corp certification! Independent verification that we meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability in balancing profit and purpose.
Not only are we the first dental practice in the UK to become B Corp certified but we achieved an impressively high overall B Impact Score of 122.9 – in context, 80 qualifies for B Corp Certification.
Increasingly people want to work for, buy from and invest in businesses they believe in. It can’t be ignored – it’s something that comes up in almost every interview that we host, in almost every business engagement that we have. People seem genuinely interested in businesses with an ethos that’s about making a sustainable difference. We are so proud to have achieved B Corp Certification – fantastic recognition that will enable us to develop our business and reputation even further and have an even greater impact.
As an employee-owned CIC and now certified B Corporation, Smile Together is legally required to consider the impact of our business decisions and evaluate and measure our entire social and environmental performance and impact.
But it’s not just about getting a badge, it’s continuing to do the right thing as a business and collaborating to make the world a better place. Cornwall already has the largest B Corp community outside London, the county’s collective B|23 initiative is inspiring many more, and we continue to share our B Corp experience including in a live ‘Inspiration Day’ broadcast in Aug 2023 and presenting to more aspiring B Corps in Nov 2023. B Corp Certification runs on a 3-year cycle so we will continually review our progress and performance to achieve even more in the future, whilst doing what we can to support others.
There is a strong and growing B Corp community in the UK and our ambition is to be an influential leader in this space, continuing to make a sustainable difference for one another, our patients, community, other stakeholders and ultimately our planet.
