At Smile Together we’re all about helping our communities across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly maintain a healthy smile. It’s not so easy during these days of Covid-19 – not only are dental practices closed for routine care but our Brighter Smiles team can’t visit primary schools, nurseries and family hubs across the county.
So, coinciding with National Smile Month 2020 and to help younger children understand the importance of looking after their teeth, our Brighter Smiles team of Jo, Jenna and their trusty dragons have compiled four short oral health educational films!
Aimed at children aged 4-6 and based on what they do in the educational settings, these films may not be polished but they’re fun and informative, pitched just right for little ones in the home or classroom.
The films are accessible via our Patient Information Zone here, with a new film added every week for the duration of National Smile Month (which runs from 18th May to 18th June 2020). We hope you have fun watching them and there may also be some funny out-takes to share – watch this space!
Smile Together is a long-term proud supporter of National Smile Month, the Oral Health Foundation’s important annual campaign. In 2019 our Brighter Smiles lead dental nurse Jo Trevelyan won their Nominate A Smile Competition based on her passion and dedication to oral health education. We have also been shortlisted in the Dental Awards 2020 for ‘Best National Smile Month Campaign’ which saw us open a brand-new, purpose-designed, accessible dental centre for patients, with specialist facilities previously unavailable in Cornwall. Providing dental care services across a county as geographically spread as Cornwall means it’s difficult bringing our people together very often but we held our annual Smile (Get) Together there last year and created our very own smiley in the dental centre carpark!
