Fill the Foodbanks

Smile Together
Back to News

Christmas can be a wonderful time of year, but we know it can also bring extra pressures for individuals and families facing financial difficulties. That’s why we’re delighted to be taking part in Rewind Radio’s Fill the Foodbanks campaign, helping make a difference in our communities across Cornwall.

Running throughout October and November, the campaign brings people, businesses and community organisations together to collect essential items for local foodbanks and charities. It’s a simple but powerful way to support those who need a little extra help, particularly as we head towards Christmas.

As part of the campaign, two of our practices are official donation stations, making it easy for our colleagues, patients and local communities to get involved.

You can drop off donations at:

Whether you’re able to donate a few items or fill a bag, every contribution can help support someone in our community.

Items you could donate include:

  • Tinned food, such as vegetables, soup, fruit and beans

  • Dried foods, including pasta, rice and cereals

  • Long-life milk and other cupboard essentials

  • Tea, coffee and other everyday food items

  • Toiletries, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap and shampoo

  • Household essentials

  • New toys and gifts to help bring a little extra joy to families at Christmas

Not local to Bodmin or Saltash? There are lots of other collection points taking part in the campaign, too. [Find your nearest donation station using the Rewind Radio collection map – https://www.rewindradio.co.uk/fillthefoodbanks/].

We’ll also be putting together oral health packs to donate. To date, we’ve donated more than 20,000 oral health packs to charities and foodbanks. We’re incredibly proud of this milestone and the collective effort that has gone into reaching so many people. The packs contain toothbrushes and toothpaste for the whole family, a two minute timer and brushing chart as well as resources about how to look after your teeth and how to access our emergency dental service.

As an employee-owned social enterprise and certified B Corp, supporting our communities is at the heart of what we do. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life, and we’re committed to playing our part in tackling inequalities and creating positive social impact.

We’re proud to be part of such a brilliant community initiative. Every donation makes a difference. If you’re able to, please join us in supporting Fill the Foodbanks this autumn and helping local communities feel supported in the lead-up to Christmas.
