Dentist Jonathan Munns, who has previously practised in Newquay, has returned to the town. He joins the Brighter Dental team which operates from Newquay Hospital on St Thomas’ Road, right in the heart of the community.
Jon qualified from Guy’s Hospital, London in December 1982 and his special interests include endodontics, oral surgery, tooth wear and undergraduate student education.
Jon has lived and worked in Devon and Cornwall since 1987, apart from three years in Oxfordshire. He is delighted to be joining the Brighter Dental team in leading the provision of competitively priced private dental treatment in Newquay and says: “I am so pleased to be joining Brighter Dental here in Newquay. Community based healthcare that offers fairly priced private dentistry whilst maintaining high standards of quality is something I was keen to be part of. I love the ethos of the business which, as a community interest company, reinvests its profits back into the local community to make even more of a difference”.
Brighter Dental is part of Smile Together and the team at Newquay Hospital work alongside their West Country Dental Care colleagues who provide urgent dental treatments for people who don’t have their own dentist, including out-of-hours surgeries and children’s orthodontics. Jon explains: “There are some excellent private dentists practising in Newquay but there is still plenty of demand for our services here in the town, particularly as we have such a friendly team and you can park here for free. Many people have a fear or phobia of the dentist, and I’ve already seen and reassured a number of such patients. Others have visited for emergency treatment and realise they need more regular dental care – the Brighter Dental fair pricing model and Patient Plans do help to make this more accessible for local people”.
Brighter Dental is currently offering half price initial examinations to all new patients and if parents/carers register and attend as private patients, their children will be seen for free up to and including age 17.
Jon is a keen follower of motorsport and attends race meetings whenever possible including the Le Mans 24-hour race. His other interests include mountain biking, swimming and travelling.
