More about Cat Martin

My role at Smile Together CIC is Specialist Orthodontist and service lead. I joined Smile Together CIC in 2016 and have been working with children and young adults providing NHS orthodontic care in Cornwall for over 10 years. In February 2026, I was elected as a Shareholder Impact Board (SIB) member to help deliver the positive impact that Smile Together CIC has on its community, environment and colleagues.

I began my dental career at Bristol Dental School graduating in 2010 with Honours. I returned to Cornwall to complete vocational training and undertake work as a Maxillofacial Senior House Officer at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. During this time, I gained my Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties with the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

In 2013, I undertook Orthodontic Speciality training at Dundee Dental Hospital, where I gained a Masters in Dental Science with the University of Dundee and was awarded the James Mulick Orthodontic Scholarship funded by the Cleft Palate Foundation. I went on to work with the University as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and was granted my Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016. On return to Cornwall, I worked in specialty practice, the community and the hospital service and gained my Master of Laws in 2021 with Commendation from the University of Northumbria holding a special interest in child consent. I continue to work within the hospital service, and I enjoy treating a range of malocclusions and having a big impact on young people’s lives. I am an examiner of Orthodontic Therapy with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and have published in several peer reviewed journals.

In my spare time I run around after three small children, enjoy running, cycling, muddy dog walks and have a European Private Pilot’s License that is occasionally exercised when the weather permits!
