The Cornish dental social enterprise Smile Together are celebrating the fact that they have been shortlisted for three prestigious national awards.
First up, Smile Together has been shortlisted for ‘Dental Brand of the Year’ along with its branding agency Fuel. The combined team created and implemented the branding strategy that has helped gain instant credibility and generated real impact within the community. The winner will be announced at the Dental Industry Awards on 17th November in London.
The next shortlisting is for Social Enterprise UK’s ‘One to Watch’ award where Smile Together are among nine of the brightest organisations in the UK. The award will be announced on 23rd November in London.
The final national shortlisting is for the Employee Ownership Awards ‘Positive ‘Impact of the Year’ for its team of volunteers who travelled 1500 miles around Cornwall to provide oral health treatments and oral cancer screenings for the elderly, disabled, homeless, refugees and fishermen. The winner will be announced on 27th November in Birmingham.
This latest recognition caps a remarkable first year for the organisation which has over 100 staff operating out of 14 centres across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Earlier this year, Smile Together’s Heidi Wyatt won ‘Dental Nurse of the Year’ at the Dental Awards and the organisation’s clinical excellence gained it runner-up in the Schulke Infection Prevention & Control Awards.
Smile Together managing director Paul Critchley said: “We are delighted to be nominated for three separate national awards in such a short period of time. It clearly shows what can be achieved by employee-ownership with a single mission of making our local communities healthier and happier.”
In addition to these national award shortlisting successes, Smile Together is also proudly in the running more locally for the Western Morning News Business Awards on 16th November for ‘Best Community Contribution’, the Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2017 for ‘Best Contribution to Sustainability by Increasing Resilience in the Community’ on 1st December and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Awards 2017 for ‘Best New Member’.
