West Country Dental Care nurse Katie Rowe is thrilled to be selected as a winner in these prestigious annual awards which celebrate Cornwall’s brightest young business talent and those entrepreneurs doing great things in the Duchy. Organised by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, sponsored by Cornwall College Business and run in partnership with networking group The Hub and Business Cornwall magazine, the list of winners reflects the diversity of the business landscape in today’s Cornwall and highlights some real ambassadors for the county.

Under Katie’s leadership, our Smiles at Sea initiative was a tremendous success, delivering much needed dental care to fishermen and their families in June 2018.  We’re an employee-owned social enterprise investing our profits back in our local community, including through initiatives such as Smiles at Sea, and it’s the passion, dedication, drive and commitment of team members such as Katie that enables us to succeed and make a real difference.

According to Paul Critchley, Smile Together Managing Director: “This is amazing and so well deserved. You are an inspiration Katie! So many patients needing dental care would be excluded without this programme #SmilesAtSea. You also do so much more to help our social enterprise and our patients, thank you.”

As ever the judges were overwhelmed with the standard of entries and quality of young individuals’ contributions submitted to the Cornwall 30 under 30 awards.

Kim Conchie, chief executive of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce said: “It is always uplifting to read about success stories in Cornwall. The 30 Under 30 process is particularly cheering during the current economic difficulties as we discussed the next generation of leaders and people adding real value to the Duchy.  The Class of 2018 is a strong list of names to watch, so look out for Cornwall’s business leaders of the 21st Century economy. One of the Chamber’s main focuses for the year is Women in Leadership and it’s coincidentally fitting to see 20 of these 30 young people, including Katie, are exactly that, making them ambassadors for gender parity and entrepreneurship within the Duchy.”
