It is with great sadness that DPS (Dental Prosthetic Solutions) has become a casualty of Covid-19 and has been closed with immediate effect.
The dental lab, based at the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre in Truro, has been servicing the denture and other prosthetic requirements of dentists across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly since Smile Together proudly acquired the business back in 2016.
DPS has not been operational since March 2020 with the team of two placed on furlough as a result of Covid-19. DPS was already not performing well financially and the lab’s forecast output compared with production pre-lockdown showed a significant reduction in income due to dentists being unable to work normally due to the current pandemic, which meant it was simply not financially viable for DPS to reopen.
We sincerely thank our two skilled dental technicians, together with former DPS colleagues, for their hard work and dedication during that time. We will very much miss having the dental lab within our Community Interest Company portfolio, contributing to our mission of tackling oral health poverty to create healthier happier communities.
We very much hope that our forced cessation of services at DPS will help other local dental laboratories to survive at this current time.
