Chair of the Board
Chair of the Board
In addition to my Chair role at Smile Together, I provide business and legal advice and guidance to a diverse range of companies through my business BurchillGC. My clients include a range of organisations in the health sector, a company that makes a textile out of pineapple leaves, a leading wax producer, an energy company, a number of software and IT businesses, a media and publishing company, a training business and others.
I studied law at University and always wanted to be a barrister, but early in my career I decided to combine my legal career with my passion for business. The best thing about what I do, is working with interesting and talented people and helping them and their businesses to achieve success.
I was inspired to join the Board of Smile Together, after working closely with Paul Critchley on the legal separation of the dental business from Peninsula Commmunity Health. Having helped other businesses in the health sector achieve the same, I could see how separating from Peninsula would give the dental business and its team an independent voice and a brighter future. As Chair it’s my responsibility to oversee the Board meetings and to make sure the Board does justice to our staff owners, our social impact and our community objectives. I love working with such a dedicated team of people and of course visiting Cornwall on a regular basis.
I am also a non-executive director of Community Dental Services based in Bedford and have well established links with a range of other organisations in the health sector nationally. Wherever I can, I try to use my extensive network for the benefit of Smile Together and look forward to helping the business to achieve its objectives and mission.
Outside of work I enjoy family time, jazz, sport and history.
