Your typical 2-year Career Refocus Programme:

 Year 1:

4 days per week urgent care

1 day per week GDP or community (your choice)

Minimum of I allocated session of emergency care per month at a designated clinic and at an additional rate or equivalent pro rata

‘Golden Hello’ of £1000 after one month

Tailored mentoring, training and support package by month 3

Annual Smile (Get) Together

Six monthly review and career discussion

Year 2:

3 days per week urgent care

Minimum of 2 allocated sessions of emergency care per month at a clinic of your choice and at an additional rate or equivalent pro rata

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively engaging with Smile Together teams and participate in audit activities, planning and development sessions, and in-house meetings etc
  • Being responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis in sites of clinical activity, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and legislation, appropriate health, safety and security procedures within the work area, and report accidents, incidents and near misses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure
  • We are currently working differently due to Covid-19 and the role will include telephone triaging patients as the first step towards treatment in our Urgent Dental Care Hubs
  • Participating in appropriate community dental and oral health promotion activities – for an example see more about our Smiles at Sea initiative at
  • Undertaking other reasonable duties as requested by the Clinical Director and Smile Together Management Team

Key accountabilities:

  • Maintaining and developing your clinical competency and continuing professional/personal development according to agreed training needs via our Smile Together Training Academy
  • Working alongside clinical and professional support colleagues in facilitating on-going organisational change and development

This post requires Occupational Health clearances, DBS clearance and two satisfactory references prior to start date.

Working conditions:

  • It is expected that the post holder will be willing to receive appropriate ongoing training and professional/personal development
  • The work is primarily clinic-based and will include use of computer and telephony equipment
  • The work may include occasional light lifting duties such as stationery boxes, files, dental consumables or other deliveries
  • There will be occasions when travel to work in other locations will be required, with paid business mileage
