With team members located right across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly it’s not often we can all get together but this is just what we did in June, to coincide with the launch of our 2018/19 social impact report!
Gathering together at Waterside Cornwall we heard from our non-executive directors John Burchill, Paul Critchley, Mark Johnstone and Rob Witton, each giving us a fascinating insight into the changing world of dentistry both locally and globally from their perspectives, recognising our outstanding achievements in such a complex environment. We’re so fortunate in having such experienced individuals on our Board and thank them for their valuable input and taking time out to join us.
We then all headed to our brand-new, purpose designed dental centre at Harleigh Road where we enjoyed guided tours of the building by our Smile Together Commercial team, had a CQC update session with our clinical and management leads Nicola Barr, Joy Callender and David Bustin and a Staff Council session with chair Maria Cockle.
Throughout the day we held a fundraising cake and fruit sale, tombola and star prize draw which included a hamper of Cornish goodies contributed by the Board, a bottle of very special Camel Valley fizz donated by Waterside Cornwall and an original framed watercolour by our talented dentist Buds. Thanks to the generosity of our team we raised well in excess of £300! The health and wellbeing stand with Better Leisure was busy throughout as well as the Brighter Smiles stand showcasing the impact of our oral health team.
Also at Harleigh Road we had lots of fun recreating our smiley logo for National Smile Month – thank you to everyone who engaged with this and as you can see, it looks absolutely fantastic!
