I practise with Smile Together in Saltash and have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Endodontics with Eastman Institute, London. This means I am one of the few clinicians in Devon and Cornwall to hold this qualification, recognising my special interest in endodontics and advanced skills in this area. General dentists are increasingly referring patients to me where they need endodontic treatment and I then work in collaboration with that dentist on behalf of the patient.
Smile Together only opened its practice in Saltash in 2017, but I was very pleased to join. Not only has this enabled me to develop my advanced endodontic skills but, as a community interest company with practices based in the very heart of Cornish communities, I genuinely have time for my patients. Complex endodontic dentistry generally does take longer, and having this quality patient time means I can thoroughly explain their treatment options at every stage and thus reduce the anxiety that naturally comes with the prospect of root canal treatment.
I am also experienced in cosmetic dental treatments ranging from repairing malformed, broken or worn teeth to aesthetic fillings on previously unsightly front teeth or replacing old fillings. In fact I so enjoy this area of dentistry alongside my endodontic work that I have embarked on a level 7 qualification in facial aesthetics as recommended by Health Education England.
Since opening in Saltash we are already providing regular private dental care to hundreds of patients who previously didn’t see a dentist, and with us children go free. As a social enterprise our profits are reinvested back into the community, so by working here not only are we delivering excellent dental care but we are contributing back to our local community which is such a lovely model of dentistry provision.
