Want to have a genuine impact in the community? You couldn’t be in better company in a more beautiful county.  Help us shape the future of Cornwall’s special care dentistry in this community-based role. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your specialist dental knowledge and skill to lead our Special Care and Community team in providing comprehensive oral care for vulnerable adults and children with complex dental needs, and for those requiring treatment with sedation and GA.

You will bring an outstanding community approach to our new purpose-built special care facility, as well as delivering a range of treatments in local secondary care centres, thus ensuring continuity of care in the best interests of our patients. As our service lead you will sit on the local Special Care MCN and other external bodies and be responsible for further developing relationships with the regional acute hospital departments, Peninsula Dental and other Schools, and other local dental providers.

We are a committed and friendly team that puts our people and patients first. Our new dental facility, which has been specifically designed and developed in consultation with our special care patient groups and NHS England, includes the only bariatric chair in Cornwall, a wheel chair facility, consulting, recovery and treatment rooms, and a ‘Changing Places’ toilet for our patients.

As an employee-owned company we genuinely value our people.  You will benefit from fully-funded training and development, all offered through our bespoke Training Academy which presents the opportunity to gain a range of extended professional development skills together with providing all core CPD requirements for GDC registration.  Funding for further qualifications may also be available.

As a Community Interest Company, we are not limited to the Salaried Dental Services Pay Scale, although we recognise that this role would be at Band C as a minimum.

Our ideal candidate will be very well remunerated, and we are open to discussing the full package which will also include:

  • Golden hello of £10,000 to help you (and your family) settle into Cornwall and start to enjoy the famous “work-life-balance”
  • A full relocation package of up to £8,000 (to cover the costs of moving)
  • Access to the NHS Pension or a workplace pension if not a member of the NHS Scheme
  • Fully funded indemnity cover and GDC fees
  • 32 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays each year
  • Fully funded training and development costs

It’s never been a more exciting time to join us – we’re different, we’re ambitious and we’re having a major impact in the South West!

If you’re someone with strong leadership and team-working attributes who is enthusiastic, visionary and self-motivated, with the presence and credibility to generate commitment and support from other team members and external partners, please call Nicola Barr, Clinical Director, on 07768 123073 or email joinus.smiletogether@nhs.net

We’re happy to build flexibility into our recruitment process to best suit you and your circumstances.

As Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly’s leading primary care dental provider, Smile Together own and operate dedicated expert NHS clinics under the name of West Country Dental Care and high street dental practices under our Brighter Dental brand.  An award-winning, forward thinking and innovative company, we function as an employee-owned community interest company and social enterprise with clear rules about reinvesting our profits back into the communities in which we serve. Our Brighter Smiles programme brings practical tooth-brushing clubs, educational visits and fluoride varnishes to children in areas of high decay across Cornish communities and we own a specialist dental laboratory.
