At Smile Together the care of our patients and our people is our utmost priority. In line with advice and guidance from Public Health England and NHS England, we will not be lifting any of our current Covid restrictions – please see more here.
We encourage you to continue to follow the national advice and guidance which is available at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus and thank you for your understanding.
We are continuing to provide emergency care through our Urgent Dental Care Hubs
If you have a dental emergency please contact us on 0333 405 0290 where a member of our team will speak to you and arrange a call back from a dentist. Our dentist will give you advice about your dental problem and any patients who require emergency treatment after this thorough triage procedure will be referred to an Urgent Dental Care Hub.
What constitutes emergency need:
- Severe trauma to teeth (e.g. tooth knocked out) and/or facial skeleton (which may require onward referral to Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust)
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Dental infection/fever/swelling that hasn’t responded to antibiotics or analgesia (especially if this might affect the airway)
How to access treatment:
Patients need to be referred by their usual dentist or if they don’t have one they should call 0333 405 0290 but must understand that treatment options at this time are very limited.
Dentists can find the referral form here.
This tightly managed referral and treatment process ensures stringent safety measures are in place to protect our patients and our teams during COVID-19. In addition:
- Patients must not, under any circumstances, simply turn up and hope to be seen – you will not have access to the practice unless we are expecting you and will not be seen.
- Except for children and patients with carers, please attend your appointment alone and arrive at the practice at your allotted time – if you arrive early please wait outside. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 after booking your appointment please contact us and we will reschedule.
- Instead of calling the practice on your arrival and waiting outside, patients now have the option to remotely self-check in for appointments via text message from our patient management system – this will be sent to you on the day of your appointment with the link being active 30 minutes before you are due to be seen.
If you are an orthodontic patient in need of emergency orthodontic care, please call us to make an appointment.
